Slalom is all about action! Nail the start, blast off at top speed and rip into the jibe with 8 or 10 other sailors and hope you make it out on top! Here is the gear you will need to do it like the pros do.
2010 is here and so I have added a new line: RRD or Roberto Ricci Designs. Their newest shapes for the X Fire range are coming later this spring and are sure to be hot. After a full season of development with Finnian Maynard they are going to be fast for sure.
Last years designs are being produced in a less expensive and more durable construction called the Firerace. With sizes 105, 112, 120 and 135 they are sure to be the answer for the occasional slalom racer who still does not want to risk getting passed by his buddies, and wants to keep his wallet fat!
The Tabou Manta are the smoothest sailing slalom boards out there, they just eat the chop! If you love to go fast, get one of these boards from me!

On the left you will see a Richard Greene slalom board shaped for me and used at the 2006 US Nationals on Maui. Light and fast, couple of minor dings, gps certified over 36 knots. $600 including a Vector Maui fin. 243 x 55 cm. One of the last prototypes before the 2008 Naish 80 plug was shaped.
On the right is my old RG slalom board. Originaly 270 x 58, slimmed and trimmed by me to 240 x 54. Ridiculously fast for gps runs with sails below 6.5. $300 including a Vector Maui fin.
